About PlatesAndBars
The #1 free gym directory in the United States
Our Mission
PlatesAndBars was built with one simple goal: make it easy for anyone to find the right gym, no matter where they are in the United States. Whether you're a competitive powerlifter looking for a serious barbell gym, a CrossFit athlete searching for a new box after a move, or someone brand new to fitness looking for a welcoming place to start — we want to help you find your iron paradise.
What We Do
PlatesAndBars is a comprehensive gym directory covering all 50 states. We catalog gyms across six major categories, giving you the tools to find exactly what you need:
CrossFit Boxes
Affiliate and independent CrossFit gyms offering high-intensity functional fitness programming, community-driven workouts, and coached classes. Whether you're chasing your first pull-up or training for the Open, these boxes have you covered.
Powerlifting Gyms
Dedicated strength training facilities equipped with competition-grade squat racks, bench stations, deadlift platforms, and calibrated plates. Many host local meets and offer coaching from experienced lifters.
Bodybuilding Studios
Gyms focused on hypertrophy and physique development, featuring extensive free weight sections, a wide range of machines, cable stations, and the mirrors and motivation you need to sculpt your ideal physique.
Globo Gyms
Full-service fitness centers with broad appeal — cardio floors, resistance machines, free weights, group fitness classes, and amenities like pools, saunas, and childcare. Great for families and general fitness.
Olympic Weightlifting
Specialized facilities with bumper plates, weightlifting platforms, and coaching in the snatch and clean & jerk. Ideal for athletes training for competition or anyone wanting to learn the Olympic lifts properly.
Hybrid Gyms
Versatile training spaces that blend multiple disciplines — strength training, conditioning, mobility work, and more. These gyms cater to athletes who don't fit neatly into one category.
How It Works
Finding a gym on PlatesAndBars is simple:
- Search or browse — Use the search bar to find gyms by city, gym name, or keyword. Or browse the full directory with filters for state, gym type, and amenities.
- Filter your results — Narrow down listings by what matters to you: location, training style, available amenities like showers, parking, classes, or childcare.
- View gym details — Each listing includes the gym's address, hours, contact information, amenities, a description, and a map showing its exact location.
For Gym Owners
Listing your gym on PlatesAndBars is completely free. We believe every gym deserves visibility, regardless of size or budget. When you submit your gym:
- Your listing is reviewed by our team within 24–48 hours.
- Once approved, your gym appears in search results, browse pages, and may be featured on the home page.
- Your listing includes your contact information, website link, hours, and amenities — helping potential members find and reach you.
Our Data
PlatesAndBars sources gym data from multiple channels, including OpenStreetMap contributors, direct gym owner submissions, and public business directories. We regularly review and update listings to ensure accuracy. If you notice incorrect information about a gym, please let us know at support@platesandbars.com and we'll correct it promptly.
Daily WOD Generator
In addition to the gym directory, PlatesAndBars features a Workout of the Day (WOD) generator that serves up a fresh workout every day. Each WOD includes four scaling levels — Basic, Men's Rx, Women's Rx, and Competition — so athletes of all abilities can participate. The WOD database includes classic benchmark workouts, Hero WODs, CrossFit Games workouts, and original programming.
